Chiropractic Care

Doctors of Chiropractic, in a traditional and modern sense, are known as the experts of spinal health. The spine is the protective casing for your Central Nervous System, which controls almost every single bodily function. So when your spine is functioning & moving well, this ensures not only correct movement and posture, but also the optimal functioning of MANY aspects of our health and wellness. Chiropractic philosophy stems from the body’s incredible wisdom, healing capacity, and recognising the incredible potential in all of us, when our body/brain/mind/soul are in good relationship.

THE ADJUSTMENT

The adjustment is a communication to the nervous system, aimed at freeing up areas of dysfunction & restriction to help restore proper alignment & functioning. This is what Doctors of Chiropractic are specially trained in. Sophie provides modified adjustments, suitable for all ages and bodies (including bubs, pregnancy, and the elderly). Her technical toolbox includes Manual techniques (if appropriate), Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), Cranial care, Torque Release Technique (TRT), AMCT, Blocks, and use of the Activator instrument, among others.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

A comprehensive first meeting, where you will have the opportunity to share about your wellness intentions, and history. Following this, a thorough assessment of the strength and integrity of the musculoskeletal, and nervous systems. This will determine what additional information/scans are needed, if this is the case.

Once we have gathered all the information we need, we will co-create unique program of care, on the basis of the doctor’s clinical experience, the latest evidence-based research, and client preferences. This plan may involve a combination of chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue work, home or gym exercises, dietary / nutritional / postural / sleep recommendations, just to name a few.

Chiropractic care supports the nervous system's ability to move from fight/flight stress mode… into recovery, resource, and rest... towards releasing, healing, and thriving.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is a complementary therapy that aims to treat muscles that are damaged, knotted, tense or immobile. It is useful for a number of problems that affect the muscles, tendons and bones and can address a number of other health problems.

Remedial massage is used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and speed up the body’s own healing processes. The pressure applied in this healing treatment can either be strong and deep or gentle and shallow, depending on the problem.

Remedial massage can stimulate the blood supply, make joints more mobile, and help to repair damaged tissues. The therapist will aim to balance the length, tone and tension of muscles and tendons, which restores the correct position of the bones, increases blood flow and helps heal injuries.

A remedial massage session will generally treat the symptoms of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction while myotherapy will treat both the immediate symptoms and the underlying cause, be it behavioural, postural, muscular imbalance or structural.

Sports Treatment

Sports treatments help athletes improve flexibility and mobility, improve performance, recover faster and prevent injury. Sports treatment can also be a part of a Rehab treatment plan for athletes recovering from injury or surgery.

We have worked with athletes from a range of sports including golf, motocross, football, MMA, boxing, mountain biking, car racing, rock climbing, skateboarding, body building, athletics, surfing, swimming and many others.

Relaxation Massage Therapy

Relaxation massage therapy improves mental and emotional health, as it calms the mind and settles the nervous system. Relaxation massage provides a general loosen up, encourages blood flow throughout the body, and helps boost the immune system by stimulating the lymphatics.

Relaxation massage sessions utilise hot stone therapy, soft tissue massage, deep tissue massage and light cupping.

The session is tailored to the individual needs of the client.
